"James Martin Saltkill was born 15 Jun 1884 in Atchison Co, Missouri. He farmed and was in the livestock business around Dentonia, Kansas until he retired and moved to Downs, Kansas in 1952. Mr. Saltkill died Friday at the Park View Manor rest home, Osborne, Kansas after a short illness. He was 82 years of age. His death occurred on 26 May 1967. Survivors include the widow, Edith, of the home; four daughters, Mrs. Frances Lehring, Hanover, Kansas; Mrs. Jessie Nienhueser, Juniata, Nebraska; Mrs. Lillie Hareenape, Lebanon, Kansas and Mrs. Gladys Bronson, Arlington Heights, Illinois and a son, Henry B. Saltkill, Beloit, Kansas. The funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Odessa EUB Church, the Reverands David Trott and Loren Silsby officiating. Burial will be in the Odessa Cemetery. The Domony Funeral Home, Downs, Kansas is in charge of arrangements." (Obituary.)
