"Adam Simonton lived in the Northwest part of Rowan County, North Carolina and was shown as the caretaker of a bridge in that area. This is recorded on the Sharpe Map of Rowan County (Iredell County). Adam served under the command of General Rutherford in the Cherokee Expedition during the Revolutionary War which is recorded in the archives in Raleigh, North Carolina. In addition to the cash claim approved by Committee on Claims in November of 1776, Adam Simonton received a land grant of 585 acres in Greene County, Georgia in 1789 for service in the Revolutionary War. Adam was first named as the executor of his mother Margaret Simonton's Will. In the Bible of his son Felix which was held by Felix's son A. C. Simonton and the contents testified to by Thomas Garrett in 1898 as to its authenticity, it was shown that Adam Simonton was born in Pennsylvania in 1744. This meant that Robert Simonton, Adams father was married in Pennsylvania to Margaret (believed to be Gaston). This also means that Robert lived on or near his father's estate in Conestoga Manor, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in 1744.PA in 1744." (Jackie Keasler Helmke, jhelmke@sbcglobal.net, 2004.)
