"Bertha Redman of Elsberry, under 18 years of age, married George Lewis of Elsberry, over twenty-one years of age, April 12, 1882 by Turner Donithan at Mr. Cempars (Kempers?)." (Lincoln County, Missouri Marriage Book 5, page 62.) (NOTE FROM RALPH TERRY: It appears this marriage took place at Mr. Kemper's (Cempars) house. Ambrose's property and the property that was later Martha's were very near each other. Note the use of the Redman surname. On this license there is a note, "The parents of said minor is filed before the issuing of this license." However, there was no note attached and no one in the county office were aware of any notes of this sort.)
