Harman Hitt

(Abt, 1721 - Abt, 1820)

"Germanna Record # 1 Patriotic Service in Va. during Rev. War according to DAR index according to B. Littlefield. He is listed in 1761 on the roster of Capt. William Edmonds 'Co. of Va. troops in the French & Indian War. On 7-24-1797 he appointed his sons Benjamin and Samuel as his attourneys to divide his property among his children and he and his wife went to live with son Benjamin. SAR #138355-Derek Morton gives same dates. refers to DAR #429161 based on this man's son-Peter, III. According to Earl Hitt, he died at the home of his son Benjamin in Rectortown. He was buried on the homestead in Rectortown. Died in his chair according to Wanda Glover reference. Harman was deeded 200 acres of land by his brother Henry on 10-18-1764. Henry moved to S.C. about this time or a little earlier. Two late descendants are Robert Owens Hitt (SAR # 158116) and Jason Richard Hitt (158117) of Florida." (J. B. Hitt, 2007.)
