Odie and "Jack" took out their marriage license in Coleman County, but married in Brownwood.

"Odie Lee Griffith, age 95, of Coleman, died Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at Coleman County Medical Center. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 17 at Elm Street Church of Christ with Sam Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

"Odie Lee Griffith was born May 12, 1913 in Santa Anna, Texas, the son of David William Griffith and Mary Etta Mitchell Griffith. He grew up in Coleman County, attended school at Buffalo and graduated from Santa Anna High School. On December 4, 1932, he married Estherlene (Jackie) Lancaster in Brownwood and she preceded him in death on April 6, 2006. He lived his whole life in Coleman County, except for two years when he and his wife moved to Lavon, Texas to be near their daughter. While living in Lavon, he was so popular that he was asked to be a member of the City Council and he was a very active member. Odie was a farmer and rancher and a partner in Reynolds, Kirk and Neeb Oil Producers. He and his wife loved to travel and they spent many summers at Cloud Croft, New Mexico with the National Park Service as campground hosts, where they made many life-long friendships. He was a member of the Elm Street Church of Christ.

"Survivors include his daughter, Linda Griffith Dority and husband Wesley of Lake Brownwood; two grandchildren, Doyle Dority and wife Liz of Coleman and Denise Dority of Lake Brownwood; four great-grandchildren, Derek Dority and wife Candace of Tipton, Oklahoma, Dillon, Megan and Sean Dority all of Coleman; one great-great grandson, Bradley Dority of Tipton, Oklahoma; one niece, two nephews.

"He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and one sister, Mary Lou Medcalf.

"Family visitation will be held on Saturday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home.

"Memorials may be made to Elm Street Church of Christ, 216 W. Elm, Coleman, Texas 76834 or Holiday Hill Nursing Home, 245 State Highway 153, Coleman, Texas 76834 of the donor's favorite charity."
