"Nathan Kemper, with his brothers, Reuben and Samuel, went South about the beginning of the century. They were engaged in the border wars with the Spaniards and finally settled in Louisiana. Nathan became a sugar planter." (GENEALOGY OF THE KEMPER FAMILY by Willis Miller Kemper, 1899, page 84.)
