"Bethaney Dunn, born 16 August 1850, died 30 November 1929." (Tombstone at Sardis Cemetery, Comanche County, Texas.)
"Bethaney or Betheny Dunn, died at Hasse, Texas and is buried in the Sardis Cemetery at Hasse, Texas. She was reported to be Indian by her grandson, D. M. Doc Dunn when visited in the late 1980s. Per narrative family history by Jo Ann Casey, Bethaney was a Cherokee Indian living on the reservation in Oklahoma when Simeon and his cousin, Allen Dunn, went to Oklahoma where Simeon married Bethaney and Allen married her twin sister, Laura. Allen and Laura Dunn are found in the census to be many years younger than Simon and Betheny. Allen born in Arkansas ca 1858 and Laura born in ??." (Don Raymond, 2003.)
"Mrs. S. M. Dunn, citizen of Comanche County for sixty two years died at her home at Hasse last Friday. Funeral servics were conducted Saturday evening at four o'clock by Clarence Bryant, Minister of the Comanche Church of Christ. Interment being made in the Sardis Cemetery. Betheny Dunn was born in Arkansas 16 August 1850 and came to Texas with her parents in 1867, settling first near Sipe Springs and was a citizen of this county from that time until her death, living in the Hasse and Proctor communities for more than fifty years. More than fifty years ago she was married in this county to S. M. Dunn who with the following children survives her; John H. and Albert Dunn of Hasse, Mrs. L. A. Bouquet of Port Lavaca, Tom B. Dunn of Stephenville, and Clayborn Dunn of Mangum. Mrs. Dunn was a member of the Church of Christ for 40 years." (Obituary.)
