"Berniece Neff, age 86, of Coleman died Saturday, January 24, 2004 at Coleman County Medical Center. Funeral services were 10 a. m. Monday at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Don Northway officiating. Burial will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. Mrs. Neff was born July 8, 1917 in Coleman County, a daughter of Rogers �Doc� Keeney and Elvira Baker Keeney. She was reared in southern Coleman County and attended Mayo School. She married Robert H. �Bob� Neff on January 26, 1940 in Coleman County. He preceded her in death on October 12, 1984. Mrs. Neff was a housewife and member of Bible Baptist Church. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Norma and Jackie Kenney of Coleman; one son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Valeta Neff of Midland; one sister, Auba Dunham of Fort Worth; two sisters-in-law, Opal Keeney of Coleman and Louise Keeney of Fort Worth; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by three brothers, one sister and one grandson. Pallbearers were Dayton Neff, Reed Neff, Douglas Hagler, Jeff Tibbetts, Michael Loyd and Earon Monroe. Honorary pallbearers were Joe Frank Hyden, Jack Cockrell, Marci Grun, Dwain Grun and Mat Gaines." (Coleman Chronicle and Democrat-Voice, Coleman, Texas, January 27, 2004, page 13.)
