Thomas Holland Sr.
(February 14, 1764 - August, 1853)
FAG 100115799
"Thomas and Jennie Holland owned the "Holland House" in Shelbyville, Tennessee in 1807. The Dixie Hotel was later built on this site." ("Holland Family Record," a manuscript by Maude Koehl via Mary Frank Dunn, 1976.)
1820 census, Bedford County, Tennessee
1830 census, Bedford County, Tennessee: Thos. HOLLAND, 1 male 20 to 30; 1 male 50 - 60 (Thomas would have been 66); 1 female 60 to 70 (Jane was 52 years old, if her birthdate is correct, but she was probably older, as per her marriage date).
1850 census Bedford County, Tennessee: Thomas HOLLAND, 75, North Carolina; Sarah HOLLAND, 35, Tennessee; Virginia Ann HAMLIN, 14, Tennessee; Elizabeth NELSON, 60, Tennessee. (Sarah Holland is the second wife of Thomas. She was Sarah Nelson, an sister of Thomas Holland's first wife, Jane. Virginia Ann Hamlin is Sarah's daughter by a first marriage. Elizabeth Nelson is Sarah's mother, Elizabeth Mansfield Nelson.)
(NOTE FROM RALPH TERRY: Marriage date of Thomas Holland and Jean "Jennie" Nelson seems to be wrong as per their birth dates. In the past, I have shown Thomas Holland, husband of Jane Nelson and second, Sarah Nelson, to have died in 1816. This cannot be correct, as he is shown on the 1850 census. Others researchers show a death date for him as August 1853. This appears to be a more correct death date.)
