George Petty

Will:
The state of South Carolina, Spartanburg Co:
In the name of God, Amen. I George Petty of the County and state aforsaid, being of sound mind, do make this my last will and testament.
1st It is my will that the plantation whereon I now live be kept for the maintainance of my beloved wife Misaniah Petty, and my invalid daughter Madorah Petty and that my son J. Columbus Petty have the oversight of the said plantation during the natural life of both my wife Misaniah Petty and my daughter Madorah Petty and that he the said J. Columbus Petty shall be entitled to all money or monies he can make on the farm over and above a support for his mother and sister before named and at the death of my wife Misaniah Petty and my daughter madorah Petty it is my will that the said plantation whereon I now live belong then to my son J. Columbus Petty in fee simple, for ever to be his in consideration of his care for his mother and sister before named.
2nd. It is my will that all the stock remain on the farm consisting of mules, cows, sheep, hogs, poultry, together, with wagons, blacksmith tools, farming tools to be used by my son J. Columbus Petty as he may see fit and proper.
3rd. It is my will that each one of my children below named have an equal share of all money or monies I have on hand at my death. that is to my son C. Quinn Petty three hundred dollars and to my daughter Mary Jenkins three hundred dollars and to my daughter Jane Stacy three hundred dollars and to my dauthter Nancy Wood three hundred dollars and my daughter Louiza Clary three hundred dollars and to my daughter Harriet Petty three hundred dollars.
4th. It is my will that the money that is or be on hand at my death be divided equally among my chilfen before named as soon after my death as practicable and the money due on notes be collected (giving two years if so much time be necessary and then divided share and share alike, I hereby appoint my beloved son C. Quinn Petty and my beloved son J. Columbus Petty executors to this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this November the fifth one thousand eight hundred and eighty three. signed George Petty (seal)
We as subscribing witnesses to this last will and testament of George Petty do certify that we saw him sign the same the date and date before written and that we in the presence of each other signed the same. P. O. Lemmons, John C. Camp, J. M. Swofford.
This will in and foregoing testament of writing was this day proven before me in by the evidence of P. O. Lemmons as the last will and testament of George Petty, dec'd and ordered of record. Given under my hand and seal of office 5/24/1887. W. J. Shannason, Probate Judge.
