DAR Patriot Index. Absalom Petty served in the militia from 5/12/1780 to 1/1783 under Capt. Robert Montgomery and Col. Thomas Brandon. At one time, he was a sergeant. since his captain was at Cowpens, it is presumed that he was also in the battle.
Will: In the name of God Amen. I Absalom Petty of the State of South Carolina Union district farmer being Sick and weak in body but of Perfect mind and Memory do make andordain this my Last wil and Testament, and first of all I recommend my soul to the hands of god who have it and my Body to the dust from whence it was taken, to be buried in a Christian like manner at the Expense of my Executors, and any worldly goods it is my will that they should be disposed of in the following manner, first it is my will that my beloved wife molly Petty shall have all my Estate during her natural life or widowhood; and to my children Charles and Sarah I give a moity of five Shillings and then my son John soon William son Janes and daughter Isbel and daughter Nancy shall have an Equal divide of all my estate at the death or marriage of my beloved wife; and my executors I nominate first my beloved wife Molly Perry I nominate to be my executress and my son John Petty and son William Petty to be my Executors, trust my natural concern signed sealed published and declared this 20th day of June 1801 in the presence of his Grabriel Petty, Absalom A Petty, John Durborow (Mark) Martha Petty (mark)
