(Abt, 1786 - January 6, 1871)

"Charles Lewis Pickett moved to Adair County, Kentucky, about 1828 - 1829. They lived in the Pettysfork section of Adair County, Kentucky in 1829. He and Jane had migrated to Kentucky along with the Garrison's and Harrison Dowell. He made several land purchases from 1830 up through 1857 in this immediate area. The Civil War brought great change in the Pickett family's lives. All of Charles' sons served in the war. Jefferson survived, however he lost his wife while away. Son, Charles contacted malaria and died a few years later. Son, John lost a leg during his combat. They all fought on the Union side. Some of their Virginia cousins fought for the South.
