"Information from published "Jordan Family Record" says that Levi was murdered.

"Newspaper article from Jeanette Pittman: "LEVI JORDAN IS SHOT TO DEATH. Jim Broadus, of Merryville, is Jailed, Charged with the Shooting. MEN HAD QUARRELED BEFORE. Shot from a Twenty-Two Calliber Rifle Ended Jordan's Life Almost Instantly. Broadus Claims the Shooting Was Accidental. Levi JORDEN was shot and instantly killed Monday night about 6:30 by Jim BROADUS at Merryville. BROADUS and JORDAN were both boarding at the same house, and they had had a quarrel Monday evening. While in the front yard the trouble was stirred up again, and JORDEN is said to have made a threat that he would fix BROADUS. While remarks were passd when BROADUS jumped up from the table and picked up a .22-caliber rifle that was sitting near the door. It is said that he place the muzzle of the gun almost against JORDEN"S head and fired. BROADUS was brought in TUESDAY morning and placed in the parish jail. Both men had only been at Merryville a short time, BROADUS having been there about nine months and JORDEN only about three monts. Levi JORDEN killed a man named "Red MURPHEY," at Pickering about a year ago." "
