"From Helen Jordan Bailey- John owned land in Vernon Parish, Louisiana and was a farmer and store owner. He and his wife believed very strongly in their children receiving formal education. Every descendant but one of theirs has graduated from College or at least attended College for two years. He was a very well respected man of Vernon Parish and was a member of the Police Jury. He donated the land in Pickering, Vernon Parish, LA for the Cooper Cemetery and is buried there. He died at St. Patrick's Sanitarium in Vernon Parish, Louisiana."
