Milton Dulin
(1834 - )
"I turned up your web site which lists Milton Dulin and his wife Sophia Weddington. I am trying to find out more about these folks because of several family connections. Milton and Sophia had two daughters, Mary Matilda "Mollie" Dulin (1860-1948) and Nancy J. Dulin (c.1863-1918). Mary married David Anderson King (1854-1925) and they had a number of children. (I have quite a bit of information on their descendants.)
"David A. King had an older sister, Rusha Elizabeth King (1837-1893), who married Dulin Stearns (c.1836-1863). Because of his unusual first name, I believe there was probably some earlier connection between the Stearns/Starnes family and the Dulins. Dulin was the son of Valentine Stearns/Starns (c.1800-1875), and Olivia Ritch (c.1803-between 1860 and 70). Valentine was the son of Jacob Starns (1775-1848) and Esther Wentz (c.1778-1853). Olivia was the daughter of John Ritch/Ritchey (d.1837). I do not know her mother's name. Could she have been a Dulin?
"Rusha Elizabeth King and Dulin Stearns had two sons, Emslie Valentine Stearns (c.1859-1920) and Dulin Benson Stearns (1863-1962, my great grandfather). In the 1880 census, Emslie was living in the household of Sophia Weddington Dulin, and was listed as her cousin. I don't know if that was because his uncle had married one of her daughter, or if it was an indication of some other family relationship. Later, Emslie married Sophia's daughter, Nancy J. Dulin. According to the 1910 census, Emslie and Nancy had 10 children, but only six were living then, and I only know the names of three of them. They were: Lizzie (c.1892/3), Ida (c.1894) and Samuel Valentine Starnes (1899). That is how he spelled his name (Starnes) on a WWI draft card."
