William Templer
(17 Sep 1829 - 7 Dec 1847)
William was baptised at Ermington in 1829. Another member of the family to join the Royal Navy he became a Midshipman. Unfortunately he was another to lose his life at sea, at the early age of 20. He was lost on HMS Phoenix on 7 December 1849. An obituary appears in the Gentleman's Magazine 1850/page 559, which tells he had previously served 3 years on the African Coast and 6 years in the service.

Obituary in the in the gentleman’s Magazine 1850 page 559.December 7-on board HMS Phoenix aged 20, Mr WilliamTempler, midshipman, second son of John line Templer Esq of Torrhill, Ivybridge.He had previously served three years on the African coast in Her Majesty’s shipfavourite and six in the service.
