Individual Details
Reginald William Templer
(19 Apr 1826 - 30 Mar 1916)
Reginald William was educated at Blundell's between August 1835 (aged9) and December 1836 (aged 11).
We know little of his early life but his address at the time of his first marriage (at the age of 28) was; The Hill, Teignmouth. His father was still the Rector of Teigngrace at the time, so he was either already practicing as a solicitor or was still articled.
By 1878 (aged 52) he was a solicitor in practice at 7 Catherine Terrace, Teignmouth.
We don't know when his wife died, but his second marriage late in life (he was nearly 70) was to Anna Whipham whose address was given as 146 Lexham Gardens, Kensington.
He was on good terms with the Lindridge Templers who referred to him as "cousin Reggie."
It is suspected that he was responsible for the promulgation of the myth of the 'Colonel of Horse' ancestor, and probably printed one of the leaflets on the subject. There is no evidence that he actually invented the story which may have come down to him from an earlier generation.
