Major George Templer

(23 Jul 1798 - 1 Nov 1848)

George was baptised at Teigngrace on 26 July 1798. He followed in his father's footsteps in having a military career in the Army with service in India. He became a Major and was A.D.C. to Sir Walter Raleigh Gilbert. He died at Umballah (or Ambala) Bengal in l848 and a monumental inscription to him is to be found there.
