Sir William Templer Pole 7th Baronet of Shute, Devon

Sir William Templer Pole was the 7th baronet, the son of Sir John William, 6th baronet. The Poles had their seat at Shute, Devon and there in the church many memorials are to be found not only to the Pole family but also to the Templer. There is a life size one by Sir Henry Cheere RA. of Sir William Pole standing in the Pole chapel. He was "Master of the Household to her late Majesty Queen Anne of ever glorious memory". He is represented with his wand of office. He died in 1741 aged 63.
Stained glass in the south transept displays the arms of Pole impaling quarterly gules and azure a temple or in chief an eagle displayed dexter and a stag trippant sinister or. This represents the marriage of Sir John William de la Pole, the 7th baronet's father with Anne Templer.
The Templer memorials in the church are those for Charles Beckford drowned at sea, James, the builder of Stover, Sophia Anne and Jane, the wife of George of Shapwick. -
Sir William Templer Pole married Sophia-Anne, daughter of George Templer, at St James, Piccadilly in 1804; after her death in 1808 he married Charlotte Ferguson.
Was 7th Baronet of Shute. Sophia Anne was his first cousin. His mother was Anne Templer, the only sister of his uncle George of Shapwick. After the death of Sophia Anne, Sir William Templer Pole married again to Charlottte ? who died on 2 October 1877 aged 91.
