Lt Col Henry Lethbridge Templer

Went to South Africa as a mining engineer. Served with the Army Service Corp during WW 1 in East Africa and won renown for his ingenuity in devising improvised forms of mechanical transport.

Educated Westminster school. Trained as an engineer. Went out to Ceylon to stay with his brother Robert. Became top mining engineer in Johannesburg. Served in South African war with Motor Transport i.e. steam engines.
During War I he joined the Royal Army Service Corps
Owned house called Willow Green in Cape Town and went there every winter from Exedene, Topsham
