Eldest son of John Prior MD of Clapham and Ann Schroder. Baptized by the Revd John Venn and named after him. Father died when he was 12yrs old. Educated at Clapham. Articled to James Templer, Solicitor, Bridport 1830 - 1835., Called to the Chancery Bar 1836. Very clever and successful in his profession and highly esteemed. Bought Downe Hall from James Templer in 1851. Lived at Greenwich and Hatcham. CAP
Died 3rd Jul 1855 aged 43 at St Thomas' Hospital, London after a fall from his horse. Buried in Nunhead cemetery. CAP
