A good rider good at all athletic games. Clever and witty, an excellent preacher of the Evangelical School. Fond of poetry, wrote many poems and hymns.

It occurred in each of the three terms, Lent, Easter, Michaelmas; Matric. Michs. 1842; Scholar, 1843; B.A. 1846; M.A. 1850. Ord. Deacon (Salisbury) 1846; Priest, 1847; Curate of Burton Bradstock, Dorset, 1846-9. Vicar of Walditch, 1849-85. Rector of Burton Bradstock with Shipton-Gorge, 1860-85. Married, 1863, Sophia Frances, 2nd dau. of Capt. F. M. Shawe-Taylor, of Co. Galway. Died July 2, 1885. Brother of John Charles (1832), Robert Baron (1849) and Charles Copeland (1847); father of James Lethbridge (1880) and John Pope (1878).
