Kenneth Marshall Kates, 72, died June 3.
He was born April 5, 1938, in Carson, Iowa, to Helen and Marion Kates.
He graduated from Carson High School and went on to Iowa State University.
He joined the Marine Corps for three years, from 1956 to 1958.
He married Jane Ann Lutz on Dec. 31, 1970, in Omaha, Neb.
He worked at Western Electric, and transferred from Omaha to Broomfield in 1971. He retired from AT&T in 1994.
Survivors include his children, Donitta and Rob West of Erie; Becky and Michael Fisher of Thornton; Donald and Jerilyn Kates of Sutherland, Neb.; Kathy and Tiff Canady of Nashville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Wendy and Brian Osborn, April and Brant Haggerton, Candy Findley, Erin West, Emil Kates, Joel West and Casandra Kates; great-grandchildren, Kayden Tobias, Reagan Feeney, Emma Osborn, Alexandra Haggerton, Gabreilla Haggerton, Natalia Chavez and Lily Osborn.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today. A service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Rundus Funeral Home in Broomfield. A committal service will be at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Staging Area C.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Broomfield and Boulder Counties, 2594 Trailridge Drive East, Lafayette CO 80026.
