Sarah was the daughter of Jonathan Dix and Sarah Shattuck of Littleton, Mass. She was married in Littleton on 20 January 1763 to Richard Goldsmith, the son of Richard Goldsmith and Hannah Dodge of Wenham and Littleton, MA. She and Richard had ten children, the first five of whom were born in Littleton, and the remainder born in Harvard, MA.
