Doris L. Nearing, 93 of Midland, died Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Brittany Manor. She was born September 15, 1922 in Highland, the daughter of the late Fred and Mildred (Stellhorn) Wolford.

On May 19, 1941 she married Vernon Nearing. Doris had attended St. John’s Lutheran Church when she came to Midland. She is survived by her grandchildren: Melvin Nearing of Macomb and Debbie (Bob) Magnuson of Flowery Branch, GA; great grandchildren: William Nearing, Samantha Nearing, Logan Magnuson and Sarah Magnuson. In addition to her parents Doris was preceded in death by her husband Vernon in May 1980, son Freddie Nearing on December 13, 2014, daughter-in-law Sandra Nearing on September 9, 2012, a brother Edward Wolford and a sister Dorothy Snyder.

Funeral services for Doris will take place 11 a.m. Monday, June 13, 2016 from the Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Chapel, 1200 West Wheeler Street with Pastor Brian Michael officiating. Interment will follow in Midland Memorial Gardens. Doris’s family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 5-8 p.m. and on Monday from 10 a.m. until time of the service.
