William Slater Wilson
(24 Nov 1829 - 7 Mar 1890)
William S. Wilson died on Friday evening, March 7, 1890, at the residence of C. W. Smith, of hemorrhage of the lungs. He was 60 years old.
Mr. Wilson was born in Warwickshire, England, and with his parents came to America when he was 6 months old and settled in Ohio, where he grew to manhood. He emigrated to Dodge county, Nebraska, 30 years ago (1860), and remained there until 1886, when he came to Chase county, with the hope of improving his health, which had been failing for some time past. His wife preceded him six years, and lies buried near the old home at Arlington, Nebraska. Three sons and one daughter survive him, who reside in different portions of the state. He bore his sufferings with fortitude, and when the summons of death came, passed calmly and peacefully into that sleep which knows no waking. During the seven weeks of his severe illness, he was tenderly cared for by his sister, Mrs. C. W. Smith, and other relatives and friends. The funeral services were conducted at the residence to-day, (Saturday) at 2 P.M., by Rev. D. Burr Willis, who preached a touching and appropriate sermon, after which the remains were conveyed to their last resting place in Lake View cemetery, near Champion, followed by a large concourse of friends and relatives.
Much information about the family of William Slater Wilson and his wife Sarepta comes from the family bible, which was a gift to him from his father Thomas Wilson on 7 Nov 1854. It shows the dates of birth and marriages of their children.

The photograph purportedly of William S. Wilson, 24 Nov 1829 – 7 Mar 1890, posted to Ancestry.com was erroneously placed there by me, Rex Wilson, his great-great grandson. This photo should be removed from William S. Wilson, and I apologize for the error.
The original photo in in my possession. However, I recently rediscovered notes given me by my father informing that the photo was not of William S. Wilson but rather of another relative, Judson Kearney Ivory. Judson was a brother of William S. Wilson’s daughter-in-law, Ella Ann Ivory. Unfortunately, there is no known photo of William S. Wilson.
