ZERAH had no children by his first wife. It is told of him that so poor was tho grass where he lived that what he mowed during the day could all be gathered into three moderate-sized cocks. His living children, with one exception, reside in the State of Michigan. They were by his second wife, ESTHER CHAFPEL.
Zerah Doud/Dowd was the son of Nathaniel Doud/Dowd. He married first Esther Hawley. They did not have any children. She died 16 June 1807, age 27. He married 2nd Esther Chappel. They had 7 children: Alanson born 27 May 1811; Esther born 15 Mar 1813; Fidelia born 9 Apr 1815; Emily born 10 Jul 1817; Electa born 1820; Mary born 3 Jun 1822; and Sarah Jane born 22 Apr 1829.
