Rachel Green

(23 May 1793 - 27 May 1869)

"Rachel Green Baldwin, wife of Thomas Kidder Baldwin, was born at Haverhill, Mass., May 22, 1793. Laid at rest in Onondaga May 23,1860... Mrs. Baldwin organized the first Sunday school in Onondaga, probably at the first school house built in the village in 1839. This stood on the south side of the main street running east and west through the village, just opposite of the cemetery where she sleeps. When Mrs. Baldwin became weary with her toil and infirm with years, a Mrs. Cochrane came to Onondaga and took her place, causing many to think she was the one who organized the Sunday school."

The GENDIS record of her death shows her parents as "David & Veshti Gacene" [probably error for Green} and her birthplace as New Hampshire.
Her death record shows her parents as David and Isabell Greene.
