Knight of Witham, Berkshire, of Minster Lovel and Cornbury, Oxfordshire, London, and Corfe Mullen in Sturminster, Dorset, and in right of his wife, of Chalgrove, Oxfordshire, of Lagham in Godstone, Surrey, of Jevington and Seyntclere's in Brighton, Sussex. Sheriff of Oxfordshire and Berkshire, Knight of the Shire for Oxfordshire and Norfolk, King's Squire.

Second son of Sir Thomas Harcourt and Jane Fraunceys.

Husband of Edith Saint Clair, 3rd daughter and heiress of Thomas Saint Clair of Chalgrove and Margaret Hoo, daughter of Sir William. They were married before 16 Dec 1445 and had three sons and two daughters; Christopher (who married Jane Stapleton), Edward, William, Alice and Anne, the wife of Henry Fiennes, Lord Saye and John Montfort. Edith died in 1467.

Secondly, husband of Alice Stonor, daughter of Thomas Stonor and Jane, the illegitimate daughter of Sir William de la Pole, Duke of Suffolk. they had one daughter, Isabel. Alice died by 1470.

Thirdly, he married Katherine Pole, the daughter and heiress of Sir Thomas de la Pole, and Anne Cheyne, daughter of Nicholas, widow of Sir Miles Stapleton who died Oct 1466. They had one son, William. 

In 1468, Richard was granted a pension of £20 for life for resisting traitors in Oxfordshire.
