Wife of of Arthur Humphrey. Their surname is spelled Humphery on their tombstones, however local histories spell it HUMPHREY and subsequent generations used this more common spelling (also her husband Arthur was, we believe, illiterate).
Rachel Rice was born on Sept. 2, 1664 in Dedham, Norfolk, Massachusetts, the daughter of John Rice 1624-1689 and Ann Hackley 1628-1683. 
Rachel married Arthur Humphrey about 1689. They moved from Roxbury, MA to Woodstock, MA (now CT) and were with the first group of settlers in that town. They then moved to Ashford, MA (now CT).
They were the parents of 8 children, whose names are listed in her husband Arthur's bio. The two are buried next to one another.
