In 1695, 1698 and 1701 he purchased parts of the estate of Robert Clafflin, and in the deeds was termed a tanner; in October, 1713, he sold to William Dodge of Wenham (probably the one who married Prudence Fairfield), “one-third part of a corn mill and one-third part of materials and irons of the old saw mill, with all parts and utensils belonging to the same; one-third part of dam and priviledge of stream,... being on Brook called Longham brook near to the house of said Josiah Dodge and is between the lands of himself and the heirs of his brother, John Dodge, deceased.” The deed was signed on the 16th of October by Josiah and Sarah Dodge in the presence of Daniel Clafflin, Phineas Dodge (probably a nephew), and Josiah, Jr. It was not acknowledged till 14th of Jan'y following, eight days before his death, before Robert Hale, J. P.
In 1709 he was one of the selectmen of Wenham and may have held other offices.
Administration was granted on his estate 31st of Jan., 1714/15, to his
widow, Sarah, and Wm. Rogers. The estate was valued at 368 pounds, 15 sh. Parents: .
He was married to Sarah FISKE on 18 Dec 1690. (799) Children were: Sarah DODGE, Joanna DODGE, Josiah DODGE, Thomas DODGE, Rebecca DODGE, Mary DODGE, Anne DODGE, Jemina DODGE, Abigail DODGE, Abigail (2) DODGE.
Lived on Longham Brook in Wenham, Massachusetts; owned a small farm, a tannery and part of a saw and grist mill.

The second source says he died in 1715."Administration was granted on his estate 31st Jan'y, 1714-5, to his widow, Sarah, and Wm. Rogers. The estate was valued at 368£, 15 shillings.
His widow received one third, = 122£, 18 sh.
Josiah, the eldest son, a double share, = 54£, 12sh., 6d.
Thomas, Mary, Sarah, Anne, Rebecca, Hannah and Jemima, 27£, 6sh, 2½d. each, = 191£, 3sh. 5½d."
The Hanna mentioned above was probably his daughter Joanna, b. 12 April, 1696; m. John Gridley of Beverly, 19 Dec., 1717.
