VALLEY, AL -- Mr. Talton Shaw, 85, of Valley died Tuesday, 7 Sep 2004 at Emory Hospital in Atlanta, GA.
Funeral services are scheduled Thursday, 9 Sep at 2 p.m. at Langdale United Methodist Church with Rev. Roger Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Langdale Cemetery.
Mr. Shaw is survived by one daughter, Susan (Paul) Jensen of Woodstock, GA; one sister, Mary Shaw of Shawmut, AL; two grandchildren, Tara (Scott) Thompson of Signal Mountain, TN, and Patrick Shaw Jensen of Chattanooga, TN; and two great-grandchildren, Chelsea Elizabeth Thompson and Jensen Andrews Thompson.
Born 4 May 1919 in Randolph County, AL, Mr. Shaw was the son of the late Elizabeth Reese Shaw and Talton Augustus Shaw, Sr. He was a veteran of World War II, where he served in the U.S. Army in the European Theater. He received the Purple Heart Medal for wounds received during service in ground operations in France. Mr. Shaw was the retired postmaster of the Langdale, AL Post Office. He was an active member of Langdale United Methodist Church where he served on the official board, taught Sunday school and was a member of the Fellodian Class. He was preceded in death by his wives, Thelma Canady Shaw and Mary Templeton Shaw.
The family respectfully declines the honor of flowers and asks that memorials be made to the Langdale United Methodist Church in his memory.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, 8 Sep from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Langdale United Methodist Church Family Life Center.
Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley is handling arrangements.
