Services were held Sunday at the Micola Baptist Church for Walter B. Michie, 78, who died December 13 at Hayti Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. Rev. A.C. Gardener officiated, assisted y Rev. W.C. Ward.
Born in Mississippi, Mr. Michie had lived in this community all his life. He operated a wellknown general merchandise store in Micola for years prior to his retirement.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Alma Michie; a son, Joe B. Michie of Blytheville; a daughter, Mrs. Mildred Franklin of Steele; a brother, Guy Michie of Caruthersville; two grandchildren, Joe Jerry Franklin and Joe Alan Michie; three great grandchildren, Ani Juan Franklin, Joe Jerry Franklin, Jr., and Anna Melinda Michie.
Honorary pall bearers were Wyatt Gregory, Will Frakes, Jim Barnes, Fred Smith, Noble Capehart, Clyde Middleton, and Walter Thompson.
Active pall bearers were Fred Inman, Buford Middleton, Jack Pipkins, Herbie Nelson, and Bowen Travis.
Burial was in Maple Cemetery in Caruthersville with German Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
