Barbara Lynn Coker Coffey, 81, went to rest with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, April 12, 2023. She was born December 29, 1941 to Hubert and Annie Bell Floyd Coker in Union County. She married the love of her life, Sammy Coffey in 1964, and together they built a loving home and raised two girls, Gretta and Suzanne. Barbara retired from Wal-Mart as a department manager after 20 years. She enjoyed growing flowers, reading, and shopping for lots of shoes. Amongst her many hobbies, she was a very skilled seamstress. She was a lovely, Godly woman who loved her family and their time spent together. Barbara was a beautiful soul and will be missed by all who knew her. She is a member of West Tallahatchie Baptist Church.
Services honoring her life will be on Saturday, April 15, at 2:00p.m. at United Funeral Service with Bro. Keith Benefield and Dr. Jeff Lawrence officiating. A visitation will be from 11:00a.m. until the start of the service at 2:00 Saturday, both at United Funeral Service. Burial will be at Philadelphia Cemetery in Lafayette County.
Those left behind to cherish her memories are her husband, Sammy Coffey, two daughters, Gretta Sims (Chuck) and Suzanne Waldrop (Bill), one sister, Sandra Wood, two brothers, Tommy and David Coker, five grandchildren, Jordan Goolsby Moore (Devin), Scout Waldrop, Chase Sims (Betsy), Courtney Shaw (Ben) and Ashton Waldrop (Emma) and eight great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Annie Bell Coker.
Pallbearers will be Chuck Sims, Bill Waldrop, Bradley Coffey, Keith Coffey, Chad Coffey and Shane Coffey. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Coffey, Todd Coffey and Brent Wood.
