Twyla Kay Tinkle
(20 Feb 1937 - 16 Apr 2014)
Twyla was born February 20, 1937, in Duncan, to Willard and Ruth Tinkle and died April 16, 2014, after a brief illness. Twyla lived her entire life in the Duncan area. Two days after graduating with the Duncan High School Class of 1955, she married her high school sweetheart, Jimmie Don Sampson, on May 28, 1955.
As a young wife, Twyla helped support her family and was busy being "Mom" to her three children, helping them with schoolwork and activities. After her husband purchased Woolsey's Office Products, she worked in the store and, later, at The Loft. She enjoyed visiting with customers, many of whom she had known all her life. Twyla's favorite activity was spending time with family, whether holiday gatherings or road trips to watch her daughters and granddaughter compete in barrel races.
Twyla was preceded in death by her parents: Willard and Ruth Tinkle; her husband: Jimmie Don Sampson; her son: Don Richard Sampson; and two sisters: Sherry Kincannon and Mickie Payne.
She is survived by her two daughters: Dana Askins and her husband Marty, and Darla Skinner and her husband Philip, all of Duncan; three grandchildren: Aaron Askins and wife Casady, Allison Askins, and Lane Skinner; and one great-grandson: Landry Askins, all of Duncan; two brothers: W.F. Tinkle and his wife Leota of Oklahoma City, Charles Tinkle and his wife Judy of Orange, Texas; and two sisters: Sylvia Burns and Corky Chandler and her husband Gordon, all of Duncan.
