James (Bill) William Austin, Jr., 85, formerly of Greer, SC, widower of Grace (Sudduth) Austin, died Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Manning House. A native of Greenville County, son of the late James William Austin, Sr. and Lena (Creamer) Austin, he was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII, a retired employee of J.P. Stevens and a member of Mount Lebanon Baptist Church. Mr. Austin was predeceased by his son, Jimmy Austin. A special thanks was extended to the staff of Manning House and Interim Hospice. Funeral services were 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 2, 2012 at Mount Lebanon Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Butch Austin and Rev. Joe Price. Burial was in the church cemetery. Visitation was held 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church prior to the services. Memorials could be made to Manning House, 10 Companion Court, Greer, SC 29651 or Interim Hospice, 155 Deacon Tiller Court, Duncan, SC 29334. The Wood Mortuary; Greer, SC.
