After leaving the Police Dept. he turned to the hobby of wood-turning, and was active in local art festivals & craft shows, including Norwalk's Oyster Festival & the SoNo Arts Festival. However, his first love was spending time with his wife, children & grandchildren and traveling extensively throughout the country. The culmination of his travels came shortly before being diagnosed with cancer, when he & his wife drove nearly 15,000 miles to Alaska & back by way of Texas. In all, he and his wife Alice traveled together to every state in the nation, and with the exception of Hawaii, all were reached by automobile.
