Ronald Lee Sauls, 72, of Sheffield, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2012.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Frank and Helen McDonald Sauls, and brother, David Sauls.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy Laverne Sauls; daughters, Rhonda Eagleton (Monte) and Annette Sauls (Dave Soldo); brothers, Gordon and Harold Sauls; sister, Cleryl Ezekiel (Terry); sisters-in-law, Mavis Alsbrooks and Sandra Marlow (Chuck); brother-in-law, Kenneth Bishop (Eulene); one grandchild, Natasha Taylor (Jeremy); two great-grandchildren, Brynlie and Paityn Taylor; numerous nieces and nephews; and "Beckett," his beloved pet.
He was born in Milwaukee, Wis. He served in the U.S. Navy in the late '50s. After serving his country, he moved to Alabama, where he met the love of his life, Patsy, on a blind date - a love affair that lasted for 47 years.
He owned and operated Square Deal Ornamental Iron Co. During this time he began a career with the city of Sheffield as a building inspector.
He then pursued a career in arts and crafts promotion with "Hot Art" and opened Sports Cards Unlimited in Muscle Shoals.
Through the years he developed a passion for computers, ultimately becoming an IT tech at NWSCC, from which he retired in 2010.
He enjoyed his hobbies, including fishing, hunting, golf and Monday night poker with friends, but his ultimate joy came from spending time with his family, especially granddaughter, Natasha "Teeny Bit" Taylor, and great-grandchildren, Brynlie and Paityn Taylor.
Pallbearers are Frankie Sauls, Tommy Foster, Bill Kerr, David Underwood, Alan Mitchell and "VJ" Vallejo. Honorary pallbearer is Scott Berner.
