Ira Nathan Grant

GREER, SC - August 25 - Ira N. Grant, 63, resident of Route 2, Swansea, died Saturday at 11:45 p.m. in a Columbia hospital following two years of declining health and a serious illness of two weeks.
Mr. Grant was born and reared in Chester County and was a son of the late Ira and Charity Earwood Grant. He was a member of Mills Mill Baptist at Woodruff and was a former resident of Startex, but for the past six years had lived in Swansea. He was a veteran of World War I.
Mr. Grant was married twice. His first marriage was to Ella Henson Grant, who died a number of years ago. His second marriage was to Mrs. Marie Howard Burgess Grant.
Surviving are his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Louise Bobo of Rock Hill, and Mrs. Colleen Hyatt of Route 2, Woodruff; three sons, James Grant of Greer, William C. Grant of Camden and Ira Manning Grant of Clinton; one step-daughter, Mrs. Mildred Searcy of Taylors; one step-son, Arnold Burgess of the U.S. Air Force, San Antonio, Texas, and 16 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Wood Mortuary by the Rev. R. O. Pinson and the Rev. Robert A. Ivey. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Lawrence and Alton Howard, Clyde Searcy, Furman and Milton Rollins and J. L. Henson.
The body is at the mortuary and the family will be at the home of a son, James Grant of 24 Robinson Street, Greer.
