Dorothy (Dot) Hewitt Johnson, born March 14, 1939, died peacefully at Heritage Nursing Home on September 16, 2021. A private family graveside service will be held at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Carnell Hewitt and Jeanette Hewitt Burroughs, her husband, Jesse Raiford Johnson, and her sister, Bobbi Murchison.
She is survived by her sons, Rick Johnson (Ellen) and Barry Johnson (Marie), her daughter, Suzanne Black (Barry); grandchildren Hunter Johnson, Rebekah Gaines (Dan), Cameron Black, Mary Margaret Strickland (Craig), Evan Black (Megan); her sister, Bonnie Strickland and many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.
Dot was a graduate of Holt High School and Shelton State Community College. She worked for many years at The Tuscaloosa Urology Center and was an active member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church.
The family wishes to recognize and thank with love Linda Patterson, Dr. Brian Wilhite, and the staffs at Heritage Nursing Home and Hospice of West Alabama.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ridgecrest Baptist Church, Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Hospice of West Alabama, Tuscaloosa, Alabama, or the charity of one's choice.
