Woman Dies Of Heart Attack
Stricken After Home Catches Fire
Suffering a heart attack, which was believed to have been caused by excitement and too much exertion when her house caught afire, Mrs. W. E. Maddox Robertson, 63, died suddenly early yesterday afternoon at her home 19 miles from Tuscaloosa on the Crabbe Road.
Relatives said Mrs. Robertson had been in ill health for some time. She was said to have discovered the house was afire and fainted while trying to put it out. She was carried from the house, but died within a few minutes.
Her husband, W. E. Robertson, reportedly sustained burns about his hands while fighting the blaze. The house and most of the furnishings were reported destroyed.
Funeral services were to be held at 4 o'clock this afternoon from the Pineywoods Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Robertson is survived by one son, Howard Hewitt of Gorgas, four daughters, Mrs. Forrest Smith of meridian, Miss., Mrs. J. W. Southerland of Adger, Ala., Mrs. E. A. Coleman of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Miss Irene Robertson of Tuscaloosa. She is also survived by five step-children, Mrs. V. G. Bennett of Anniston, John Robertson of Northport, Route 2, Mrs. C. J. Sellers of Lock 3, Whitfield, Ala., J. D. Robertson of Northport, Route 2, and Mrs. Ezra Dunn of Northport, Route 2; three brothers, three sisters and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers for the rites were to be Truman Dunn, Morgan Cooper, George McPherson, Tom Collins, Manley Fields, and Alfred Franklin.
