Oscar Rhodes, 79, Dies in Houston
Services for Oscar Newton Rhodes, 79, lifelong resident of Chickasaw county, who died Sunday, Feb. 19, at 7:45 am, were conducted from the Van Vleet Methodist Church at 2 pm, Monday with the Rev. L P Jumper and the Rev. E H Cunningham officiating. Burial was in the Asbury Cemetery with Kilgore-Norman Funeral Home in charge.
Pallbearers were: Ollie bishop, Roy Rhodes, Clarence Wilson, Leland Norman, Allie Ray, William Eaton, Howard Ray, and Ivy Seay.
Mr. Rhodes, a retired farmer, was born at Van Vleet. He died at the home of his stepdaughter, Mrs. Linda Rhodes in Houston.
He was the son of the late David Rhodes and Ellen McGraw Rhodes. He was a Methodist.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Zuleine Rhodes; his stepdaughter, Mrs. Linda Rhodes, and three stepsons, Howard Davis of Houston, Harold Davis of Greenville and Harper Davis of Clarksdale, and a number of nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Grace Eaton, whom he reared from childhood.
