Mrs. Malvern Davis Laid to Rest
Mrs. Malvern Davis, 74, who suffered a stroke two years ago and had been confined to her bed most of the time, died Saturday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Herbert Miller.
Services were conducted Monday afternoon at 2:30 by the Rev. W C McCay, pastor of the Methodist Church. Interment was in the Concord Cemetery, beneath a mound of beautiful flowers.
Pallbearers were: Charlie Miller, James Dulaney, H D Hembree, James Robert Thomas, Cleve Doss, and Lockard Childress.
A lifelong resident of this community, Mrs. Davis was endeared into the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by two sons, Malcolm M Davis of Oakland, Calif.; Augustus Davis of Houston; four daughters, Mrs. Herbert Miller of Houston; Mrs. Mike Morath of Paris, Ark.; Mrs. J V Sigler of Greensboro, Ala., and Mrs. B H Syers of Mobile, Ala.
She also leaves three sisters, Mrs. B M Smith, Mrs. Gene McIntosh and Mrs. Daisy Coyle, and one brother, John Davis, all of Houston.
Twenty-one grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive.
Born March 1 1872, Mrs. Davis was the former Miss Mary Elizabeth Davis, daughter of the late Reuben Davis. She was wed 52 years ago to Malvern H Davis. She was a faithful and active member of the Methodist Church until failing health prevented her from carrying on.

Malvern and Mary Davis have a son, Malcolm M Davis, that died at his home in Oakland, Calif., Feb. 11, 1975 of an apparent heart attack. He was born Nov. 24, 1904. Interment was in Oakland, but obituary does not say what cemetery and he is not listed on findagrave.
