Anthony Lewis Ransford

Anthony L. Ransford, 62, died January 18, 2009 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was born July 18, 1946, in Windsor, England. Tony immigrated to the United States in 1973. He worked at several companies before finding his niche as a Millwright for General Motors where he was employed until he retired in July of 2008. Tony was an avid soccer fan and an integral part in the conception on OK County Soccer Association. He loved coaching as well as refereeing. In 1985, Tony redirected his energies to golf. Not only did he love to play, he learned to make golf clubs and eventually became a USGTF instructor. Tony became an American citizen July 4, 1993. All these things came second to Tony. His children were the most important thing in his life. He is survived by his sister, Valerie Brown of England. He leaves behind his son, Phillip A. Ransford and daughter-in-law, Kim of Del City, OK two daughters, Victoria I. Ransford and Emily L. Ransford of Midwest City, OK. Ironically Tony and Phillip shared a birth date. He leaves behind his lifelong friend, Michael Pearson of England, and many dear friends in Oklahoma as well as Texas. All their love and support over the last couple of years was appreciated beyond words. The family would like to thank the staff of Optim Oncology, Midwest City for their constant help and support over the last several months. A special and heartfelt thanks to Odyssey House Hospice for the respectful, loving, and compassionate care they showed for Tony and us for the last 3 weeks. A Celebration of Tony's life will be held 2:00 PM, Thurs., Jan. 22, at Candlewood Chapel, 315 S. Sooner Rd., Midwest City, OK under the direction of Ford Funeral Service.
