William G. "Bill" Appleton, 77, of Burkburnett, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2012.
Internment will be held at 10:0 a.m. Monday, January 23, 2012 at Ft. Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Burkburnett.
A son of the late Gracey and Julia (Carney) Appleton, he was born on October 23, 1934 in Clarksville, Tennessee. He served our country proudly in the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Army, and the U.S. Air Force during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. On February 11, 1967 he married Barbara Moore in Wichita Falls, Texas. Bill was an avid golfer, loved water skiing, and enjoyed bowling. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Cindy Lee; step-son, Stephen Rice; his sister; and his granddaughter, Chloe Appleton.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Appleton; his son, William S. Appleton and wife Kristeen all of Burkburnett; his daughter, Debbie Newmister of Arcadia, Colorado; two step-daughters, Pam Harper and husband Bob of Duncan, Oklahoma, and Karen Chancellor and husband jerry of Wichita Falls; his brother, Charlie Appleton of Clarksville; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
