Graveside services for Retha C. Hartle will be held Monday, May 12, 2014 at 10:00 AM
at the Welty Cemetery.
Retha C. Hartle was born February 11, 1925 in Rock, Oklahoma to Melton Vanzant and
Hattie Mae (Lunsford) Vanzant. She passed away Friday, May 9, 2014 in Moore,
Oklahoma at the age of 89.
Mrs. Hartle grew up in the Okemah area and was a 1942 graduate of Okemah High
School. She and Otis Martin were married August 1, 1942; he later preceded her in
death in 1981. In 1987 she and Recel Hartle were married; he preceded her in death
in 1999. Mrs. Hartle worked many years as a nurse for Dr. Noel Miller and with the
hospital in Okemah.
Also preceding her in death were her parents and one son, Phillip Martin.
Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Sullivan and husband Tom of Moore, Oklahoma;
one sister, Melva McCowan and husband Conroe of El Paso, Texas; one daughter in law,
Susan Martin of Moore; five grandchildren, Carrie Griffitts, Cynthia Garten,
Jennifer Davis, Phillip Martin and Tommy Sullivan; and six great-grandchildren,
Tyler Griffitts, Dillon Griffitts, Chase Garten, Juliette Davis, Melissa Sullivan
and Declin Sullivan.
Viewing and visitation will be Sunday, May 11, 2014, 12:00 – 4:00 PM at the Parks
Brothers Funeral Home with family there to greet friends and guests, 12:00 – 2:00
PM.
Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah.
