Herman L. Gurnsey, 92, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, died Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
He was born December 19, 1919, in Athens, Texas, to Fred and Flora Reynolds Gurnsey.
Mr. Gurnsey was reared and educated in Holly Springs, Arkansas.
He served in the United Sates Army.
He retired from Jenkins Memorial Children's Center.
He loved fishing and received many trophies. He was a former member of the Rison Bass Club.
Mr. Gurnsey was a member of Greenlee Baptist Church where he was part of the Golden Ages group, the United Commercial Travelers and a life time member of the DAV.
He was preceded in death by a son, Paul Gurnsey; his parents; a brother, Howard Gurnsey; a sister, Thelma Dodson and two grandsons, Michael and Paul Gurnsey.
Survivors include his wife, Celesta Massanelli Gurnsey, whom he married on February 2, 1963, in North Little Rock; sons, Wayne Gurnsey of Rison, Jimmie Gurnsey of Hampton, David Gurnsey of Holly Springs; daughters, Dolores Carter of Fordyce, Anne Russell of Kingsland; three grandchildren; two step grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and six step great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 10 AM until 10:45 AM, Friday at Robinson's.
Graveside service will be 11 AM, Friday by Ralph Robinson & Son at Graceland Cemetery with Reverend James Watson and Reverend Matthew Watson officiating.
