A memorial service will be held for Bonnie Broughton at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 14, 2013 at Hickory Tree Baptist Church, Balch Springs, with a funeral service later that day at 3:00 p.m. at Hilliard Funeral Home, Van, Texas with Bro. Alex Gonzales officiating. Family will receive friends for visitation from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm immediately before the service at Hilliard Funeral Home, Van. Burial will be in Cox Cemetery, Van Zandt County.
Mrs. Broughton passed away at the age of 89 on October 10, 2013 at her home.
Bonnie Sue Kearby Broughton was born January 9, 1924 in Dallas, Texas. She had been a resident of Mesquite/Balch Springs for 9 years, formerly living in various places in East Texas. She was a member of Hickory Tree Baptist Church. In earlier years, she worked as a dairy farmer, and also a switch board operator and receptionist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Broughton in 2008; parents, Robert Lee Kearby and Ena Fossie Everett Watts; son, Dennis Chennault; sister, Mickey Hamessley; brother, Robert "Son" Kearby; grandchildren, Kelly Chennault, Nichole Chennault and Mark Chennault; and great-grandchild, Noelle Chennault.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Susie & James Knox of Mesquite; son and daughter-in-law, Gary & Leora Chennault of Arkansas; grandkids, Holly Darr and husband, Vance, Amy Travis and husband, David, Johnny Benn, Lisa Gajdica and husband, Carey, Adam Chennault, and Mark's wife, Rita Chennault; and great-grandchildren, Tony Chennault, Dillon Chennault, Kelly Puckett, Clayton Puckett, Austin Travis, Amber Darr, Allison Darr, Callie Gajdica, Megan Gajdica and Trinity Benn.
