Fayola Hathorn Buckelew, 83, of Laurel, passed away Friday, October 9, 2009, at Comfort Care Nursing Center.Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, October 11, at Indian Springs Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. The Revs. Mike West, Tommy Brill and Ryan Smith will officiate.She was born on September 25, 1926. Though she battled severe rheumatoid arthritis for many years, she rarely let it slow her down. She loved gardening, shopping, traveling and being with her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her. She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church for over 40 years and then moved to the Indian Springs Community and joined the Indian Springs Baptist Church.She was preceded in death by her parents, G.D. and Linnie Bell Hathorn; younger brother, Hershel Hathorn; and son-in-law, Terry L. Parker.Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Billy N. Buckelew; two daughters, Judy Parker and children Karen and Benny Hubbard of Magee, Brenda and Richard Baswell of San Antonio, Texas, and Debra Holifield and children Kelly and Ryan Smith of Laurel, Amy and Jeremy Hamilton of Laurel; two brothers, Odell Hathorn and wife Betty, and Lee Hathorn, both of Laurel; sister, Reviel Kitchens of Kenner, La.; seven great-grandchildren, Jessica and Ethan Brewer, Kaitlyn, Madison and Ricky Baswell, Emily and Marley Smith.Pallbearers will be Morris Welch, Freddie Welch, David Hudson, Jeremy Hamilton, Billy C.
