TUSCALOOSA Kathleen P. Gibbons, age 90, of Tuscaloosa, died Sept. 1, 2011, at Forest Manor Nursing Home. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Dr. Donald Payne officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.She was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Gibbons; her brothers, Jack, Kermit, and Ernest Pearson; and her sisters, Louise and Verna May Pearson.Survivors include her sons, James, David, Paul, and Mark; and her grandchildren, Benjamin and Rebecca Gibbons.Mrs. Gibbons was born in Duncanville, Ala. and attended the University of Alabama, studying education. She married during World War II and traveled the country as an Air Force wife. She returned to Tuscaloosa following her husband's retirement. She received a Master's degree in Library Science and became the librarian at Eastwood Jr. High School until her retirement.
